  I am currently staying here while I am being treated for cancer. It's always scary to be somewhere away from home for any length of time but this place takes away the fear. All the staff are so nice and we get 3 meals a day. If you have no tastebuds and eat like a bird but don't mind begging for more then the food will do. Rooms are cleaned regularly and they are nice and quiet. All the guests here are here for the same reason so there are no attitudes, just friendly support. Worth looking into. It's also very convenient to everything and Freemason Volunteers will drive you to your appointments.

  The accommodations are adequate with single beds, nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. A nice dining room where you can help yourself to buffet meals or make yourself coffee or toast, or heat up items in microwave. There are also libraries and quiet rooms. TV rooms are in far corners that are easily accessible, but far enough aside that TV noise won't disturb others.

  I took someone here who was diagnosed with cancer. It is very conveniently located kitty corner from the Cancer Agency where parking was significantly cheaper.

  I stayed for 10 days, Dec 11 to 21, at the Jean Barber Lodge in Vancouver while I had major surgery, which was only performed at the Vancouver General Hospital. I must rate the Lodge with 5 stars, because of the kindness of all the staff, from the Office staff, the faithful Volunteers, and the kitchen cooks and servers. The housekeepers work hard to keep the rooms clean, especially the bathrooms. The comraderie of other patients made this whole experience pleasant. The Jean Barber Lodge is a "home away from home." The food was very good.

  The staff were exceedingly helpful and comforting. If I had cancer, I would prefer staying here over a 5 star hotel because the staff are very understanding of the terrifying path cancer patients must navigate, and they know how to allay fears and keep things positive and hopeful for patients. The support is wonderful!
